We are back on Kauai and are finally taking a breath to update the site. So much has happened since May that it's overwhelming. Where to begin...
Summer in Oregon was divine. Our work on the Sanctuary there proceeded very well in many directions:
We began our planting of the bee forage, laid out a design for a hexagonal herbal medicine wheel, planted trees, and made plans for next Spring, when we will construct platforms for the beehives and then bring in the bees!
Eight years after the honeybees were wiped out in the Yachats River Valley (reportedly by a USFS spraying of Malathion) the bees are returning! Hives are springing up all over the valley, and many neighbors expressed interest in keeping hives that will be purchased and set up by Save the Honeybee Foundation. It's a very exciting time for the bees, and the raised awareness about their plight (largely due to our partners at "Vanishing of the Bees") is being felt all over.

Wow--it's been a busy Spring!
We are incredibly excited to be heading to Oregon in three weeks to begin work on our first Oregon honeybee sanctuary.
Fundraising efforts are continuing to help get this vision up and running.
A wave of support, monetary and otherwise, has been flowing in from all directions, both for Grateful Beauty Honeybee Sanctuary, and for the educational and DVD release of the film, "Vanishing of the Bees."
"Vanishing of the Bees" has been invited to the United Nations!
Ellen Page made a great appearance on Bill Maher's program to rally support for the film.

Cheryl Dunlap, an East-Coast artist, has started selling her honeybee yoga greeting cards--and she is donating a percentage to Save the Honeybee Foundation! Yea, Cheryl! The cards are fabulous--please check them out at: http://www.cheryldunlapartist.com/
For those interested in the latest research on the effect of pesticides on honeybees, the link below is touted to be the most widespread and extensive study of pesticides in bees and bee products to date. The numbers are very shocking. Bees are truly a wonder that they can survive at all in this pesticide soup.
